Plane crashes into Beijing’s tallest building CITIC Tower

A small aircraft crashed into CITIC Tower (China Zun), Beijing’s tallest skyscraper, sending debris raining down on streets below. The incident happened in the Guomao business district, with smoke seen rising from the 528-metre tower. Beijing police have closed some roads around the building and are stopping passersby from taking photos, per Reuters. The cause of the crash is not yet known. Emergency services are at the scene.

Authorities confirm a pilot was killed and 13 people are injured.
