Russia carried out a large-scale missile and drone attack on the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and other parts of the country overnight into Thursday.

Ukrainian officials reported that at least 20 people were killed in the strikes on Kyiv. Dozens more were injured across the city.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko declared a day of official mourning for July 3, describing the overnight assault as the “largest enemy attack on the capital.”

Explosions were reported in multiple districts as Russian missiles and drones targeted the capital. Air raid sirens sounded throughout the night, with residents taking shelter in metro stations and basements.
