34-year-old Somali man arrested after driving into west London crowd

A 34-year-old Somalia-born British man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and dangerous driving after a car struck five pedestrians in Ealing Broadway, west London, on Saturday afternoon.

The Metropolitan Police said the incident happened at around 2:30pm. Three people were taken to hospital and two others were treated at the scene.

The driver was detained a short time later in the nearby Grange Park area. Counter-terrorism policing officers conducted initial inquiries due to the nature of the incident, but police have stated that it is not being treated as terrorism.
