Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami as UK brings 38 new charges

Andrew Tate, 39, and Tristan Tate, 38, were arrested Saturday in Miami, Florida, following an investigation by UK police into a number of sexual offences. The brothers are being detained pending ongoing legal proceedings.

The arrests come after the Crown Prosecution Service authorised charges based on a file of evidence submitted by Bedfordshire Police, relating to allegations dating back to 2012. The Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit has continued investigating further offences reported to Bedfordshire Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary.

As a result, 38 new charges have been authorised against the brothers, bringing the total to 59 — 42 against Andrew Tate and 17 against Tristan Tate.

Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the CPS, said prosecutors had decided to bring further charges including rape, arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, and offences relating to indecent images of a child. He said the charges follow a further evidence file from Bedfordshire Police and bring the total number of alleged victims in the case to seven.
